In October 2024, the ARISE project officially concludes, but before that, we have an exciting event lined up.
Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, and BIM for Design and Construction upskilling is a half-day and in-person event taking place at TU Dublin, Ireland. Join us and learn about the ARISE e-learning platform and its content on BIM applied to energy efficiency and the next steps of Artificial Intelligence in construction.
About the Project
ARISE is a European-funded project (by H2020 Grant Agreement No 101033864), started in September 2021, that aims to support the upskilling of design and construction professionals on the topics of energy-efficient buildings and BIM processes.
ARISE’s global goal is to revolutionize the learning process by changing both the delivery and recognition of sustainable energy skills in the construction sector. The new system of training and recognition of skills will be valid across the EU, thus increasing the spread of a skilled workforce in the building market.
By providing clear learning interactions, transparency of upskilling transactions and recognition of qualifications achieved, ARISE inspires demand for sustainable energy skills.

About the Workshop
The Workshop will be organized as an online international communication event, to allow the stakeholders of the building supply chain from different countries to share experiences and opinions on market demand and implementation of competencies and skills in the procurement of building projects. The result of the event will be brought to the attention of the European stakeholders to propose recommendations to all member states to adopt a common approach.
The workshop will take place on 10th September 2024, from 11.00 to 12.30 CET, with the following agenda:
11.00-11.05 | Welcome and introduction; objectives of the workshop |
11.05 -11.10 | Project ARISE – Mission and objectives |
11.10 -11.25 | Demonstration of ARISE Framework and Platform |
11.25 -11.35 | ARISE Recommendations for supportive and stimulating measures for increased demand of skills in procurement of building projects |
11.35-12.10 | Open discussion on effective market implementation of sustainable energy skills in the domain of policy, regulatory, education and financial measures |
12.10-12.25 | Conclusions |
12.25-12.30 | Closing |
ARISE Webinar-May 18, 2022: Using digitalisation to overcome vocational exclusions for training
The ARISE project are holding an ARISE webinar on May 18th, 2022-11.00-12.30 (CET)
Title: Using digitalisation to overcome vocational exclusions for training.
This webinar will present BIMcert and ARISE toolkits which provides an agile work/learning marketplace where speed and agility are critical and where the workforce needs to be provided with the tools to do their job in a continuous cycle of learning commensurate with the demands of their daily workload.
A BIM qualified building workforce is required across the UK and Europe to meet the energy challenges of construction.
The toolkits ensure that blue-collar workers and some middle and senior-level professionals across the building value chain have the required BIM, interconnect IT and technological skills, as well as practice.

EUSEW 2021: Energy Talks 25 - 29 Octobre 2021
The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) took place on 25-29 October 2021 under the theme: ‘Towards 2030: Reshaping the European Energy System’.
This year, as last year EUSEW went digital. The event comprised a 3-day digital Policy Conference, the EUSEW Awards, the second European Youth Energy Day as well as 1:1 video meetings, virtual stands and other networking activities. Participants had access to online side events and Sustainable Energy Days, digital events that took place all over Europe.
ARISE project coordinator Paul McCormack presented in the section #energytalk '10 key policy recommendations on #digitalising the #construction sector for a clean #energy #transition'. He explained why the construction industry must empower their staff to enable them to design a digital transformation roadmap for the sector.
Sustainable energy skills in the construction sector joint workshop 2.0 at #SP2021
ARISE will develop an on-demand mobile-friendly training project portal forc and sustainable energy in the construction sector. The project will also create a "cryptocurrency" of development skills and learning in the digital built environment to stimulate engagement and quantify skills development and learning.
You will find the registration of the workshop at this link.

Gathering 21 Virtual Conference - 21st - 23rd Sept 2021
Construction Innovations for Future Generations
Thursday 23rd Septembre Paul McCormack, ARISE H2020 coordinator, presented the project at CitA Ltd BIM Gathering in Ireland
The event acts as a focal point for all stakeholders, both from home and abroad to come together to share their research, case studies and experiences of working with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Digital Technologies.
The 5th BIM Gathering conference was hosted virtually due to the continued presence of COVID-19.
This year the theme of the Gathering was:
“Construction Innovations for Future Generations”.
Despite the challenges we face with the continued presence of COVID-19 there is positivity with the rollout of vaccines and the response of the Irish Government to fund a Build Digital Project (2021-2026) providing coordination and leadership to deliver increased digital adoption across the entire Irish construction and built environment sector.
This year the Gathering focused on what has hindered digital adoption to date and the innovations and interventions that will be necessary to unlock greater productivity in our sector. This includes a cultural shift in attitude towards BIM adoption; enabling a digitally enabled safer and healthier work environment; use of BIM collaboration standards as the new norm; getting BIM and off-site production to work and in hand; innovative procurement and contract vehicles; highly skilled workforces; smarter cities, smart buildings, and data; new and emerging technologies; more involvement of women in BIM and construction, and a paradigm shift towards a circular economy.
