Skills and Continuous Education for evolving built environment

 

The architecture and the construction of the build environment evolves and remodels to correspond to the development and changes of the moment in history we live. New ways of living, new technologies, new construction techniques require new skills and knowledge from professionals in the field.

To date, the green and the digital transformation are the two main drive forces in the design and construction sector. Climate change has made mandatory sustainable, circular and energy efficient renovation and new constructions. Cloud storage, digital design tools such as BIM, and virtual reality provide new ways of working. Internet of things, building automation, artificial intelligence, smart assistants facilitate and change the ways we live, work and play.

After a decline in the growth during the pandemic, the construction sector is expected to grow 3,4% higher than 2021. The architectural market value has also shown positive numbers increasing 23% compared to 2020. The expected growth in the sector for the next few years brings the opportunity for professionals to get involved in training in order to get ready for the market demands. 

 

The new demands of an ever changing work environment lead also to the development of new ways of teaching and learning. Professionals upskilling need to be easily available, engaging through gamification, direct through task-based learning content developed into micro units. 

 

In the context of the European year of skills, in this hybrid event, we will present opportunities for life long continuous education on green and digital skills minimising the skills gap and providing a fair and equal chance for all.
